Summary

The Supreme Court considered whether Michigan and New York laws governing direct-to-consumer wine shipments violated the dormant Commerce Clause by favoring in-state wineries over out-of-state wineries. The Court held that both regulatory schemes discriminated against interstate commerce and were not saved by Section 2 of the Twenty-first Amendment. The Court affirmed the judgment invalidating Michigan's laws and reversed the judgment upholding New York's laws.
